Travel without breaking the bank? The "Strong Canada" pass has been renewed for the holidays and next summer.

The government of Mark Carney has decided to renew its "Strong Canada Pass" initiative, a program that has already proven popular with many families. The goal? To offer Canadians and all those who choose Canada as their destination the chance to (re)discover our magnificent landscapes, vibrant culture, and shared experiences at a lower cost during the holidays and throughout next summer.
Thanks to this pass, families and young people will be able to continue to enjoy national parks, museums, art galleries, and even travel by train, often at a reduced rate, and sometimes even for free.
"This initiative has brought Canadians together, stimulated tourism and highlighted the values that unite us," the federal government said in its budget released Tuesday.
And the numbers speak for themselves: during the summer of 2025, the program increased VIA Rail ridership by 6.5%, increased visits to Parks Canada sites by 10%, and increased visits to Canadian museums by an average of 15%.
A total of $116.3 million will be invested over two years to support this initiative. The pass will allow travelers to make significant savings between December 12, 2025, and January 15, 2026, inclusive, and throughout the summer of 2026.
Full details and benefits of the program are available on the official Government of Canada website .
